Karin Rehnqvist

Salve Regina van de Zweedse componist Karin Rehnqvist werd geschreven voor het Nederlands KamerKoor en het Nieuw Ensemble. De eerste uitvoering werd geleid door Ed Spanjaard (mei 2007).

Rehnqvist: “Initially, I imagined the music expanding from the inside. A kind of bright bubble of sound, extremely lively and dynamic, growing. That music was the first thing to come to me. Then I started looking for a text. Nothing worked. Eventually, I started composing anyway, without words, allowing the flow of the music to guide me. From there I suddenly heard: Salve! ”

Het werk bestaat uit drie secties: een invocatie, vervolgens een lamentatie en tenslotte een gebed.
